Rescued Lion "Couple" Nikola and Vasylyna Embark on their Next Adventure Together | FOUR PAWS USA
From fear and loneliness to love and companionship!
The young #lions Nikola and Vasylyna defied the odds to find each other. Their journey, spanning over 1,200 miles across different countries, brought them together at FELIDA Big Cat Sanctuary (@felidabigcatsanctuary). In 2022, Nikola was rescued from a village near Budva, Montenegro, while Vasylyna was found on the streets of war-torn Kharkiv, Ukraine.
While Nikola was successfully rescued and brought to FELIDA, bringing Vasylyna to safety was not easy. In June 2023, after months of uncertainty, we were finally able to begin her relocation.
Once Vasylyna fully settled in, our experienced caretaker team sensed a connection between her and the handsome Nikola, thus beginning the long process of socialization. After months of slowly getting to know each other through the fence, the big moment of union arrived in the beginning of 2024.
And there has been a lot of love, cuddling, grooming, and playing since then!
But wait, their adventure isn't over yet! This Thursday, they'll begin their next chapter at LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary (@lionsrockbigcatsanctuary) in South Africa. Follow us for more updates!
