판소리 다섯바탕-올해의 국창 '수궁가-왕기석'

2024 소리축제 ‘판소리 다섯바탕’ 올해의 국창에는 30년간의 국립창극단 활동을 통해 독보적인 존재감을 드러낸 왕기석 명창이 무대에 올랐다. 이번에 선보인 소리는 ‘미산제 수궁가’로 왕기석 명창의 힘 있고 단단한 소리와 창극 배우로서 익힌 연극적 표현력이 어우러져 해학과 풍자의 묘미 가득한 ‘수궁가’를 선보였다.

Five Pansori Stories 'Sugung-ga – Wang Giseok'

Master Wang Giseok was naturally exposed to and thereby fascinated by pansori from his younger days, thanks to his third eldest brother, Master Wang Gichang, and his fifth brother, Master Wang Gicheol. He began his professional pansori life since at the age of 18. He studied under the guidance of Masters Nam Haeseong, Jeong Gwonjin, Park Bongsul, Jeong Gwangsu, Seong Wuhyang, and Oh Jeongsuk. In 1983, he joined the National Changgeuk Company, where he has been active for thirty years.
