A walking tour in the town of Qadmus in western Syria, which is 65 kilometers northeast of the coastal city of Tartus.
Qadmus was given this name in reference to the Phoenician god Qadmus. The ancient Syrian legend says that Qadmus rode the sea and went searching for his sister Europe, who had been kidnapped by Zeus. He went from Syria to Greece, where he spread the alphabet and science there.
Qadmus is famous for its castle - where we started the walking tour - which was a major stronghold for the Assassins more than nine hundred years ago.
