Power Query is an ETL tool available in Excel that allows you to automate procedures for data preparation to make it ready for analysis. It is very easy to learn and use, requires no coding and can transform hours of repetitive work into minutes or even seconds only.

Power Query allows to automate routine tasks like removing unwanted rows and columns among many other data cleansing transformations. We can apply a set of transformations to one data set only or multiple files in a folder and then combine them in one unique table.
Other transformations that Power Query can automate include comparing and merging multiple data sets and unpivoting among many others.

Data preparation can take up to 80% of a data analyst's time at work. Power Query allows to compress that time into just a fraction of the time needed when data preparation is done manually in Excel.
