The budget for the series was 25 million per episode, which makes this the third most expensive series, passing The Pacific which was 21.7 million per episode.

The final scene in the series was originally meant to have the townspeople swarm Wanda like zombies, but the ending was changed to give it a more psychologically compelling storyline.

THe show is clearly inspired by family sitcoms, but the sitcoms in order of episodes are The Dick Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, The Brady Bunch, Family Ties, Malcolm in the Middle, and Modern Family.
