The Nanjing Massacre took place after the Japanese invaders captured the city on Dec. 13, 1937. Over six weeks, they killed about 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers. Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on the Chinese people to remember and draw lessons from deep calamity and cherish hard-won peace.
