I made and broke a powerful 3D Printed Air Blower with forward impeller.

Ok, so this video is quite different. I am making this video to warn my fellow makers and creators about the reality or Limitation of 3d Printed parts. These are quite obvious stuff. But if this video helps even one of you watching I think this will be worth it.

Don’t get me wrong, 3D Printing is such an awesome thing, probably one of the best thing for me to be a part of.
But there are Limitations, like in every other thing. So what happened.

I designed an air pump with impeller which was powered by a powerful 775 DC Motor. The designed was pretty strong and I 3D Printed the parts with a strong infill and wall settings.

I tested everything with Eye protection seven times, even with higher RPM.

So I sat down to make a video about it. Everything was going smooth. I assembled the Air pump like normal and powered it. It was working perfectly until it broke.

It was so instantaneous, for a minute I couldn’t figure out what happened. Then I realised there was blood on my hand, my Lips went numb, and then I got big cut on my cheek. (I was wearing eye protect all the time. Thank God it was a minor accident but I could have lost my eye if I Wasn’t wearing the eye protect which could have been easily the worst thing to happen to anyone.

The funny thing, I was going to include a warning in the video, to not try this. It was just an experiment.

The Problem here was not the design impeller, but the manufacturing process of 3d printer which makes the model by layers one over the other. The centrifugal force was so strong it broke away the fins. In future I may get the same impeller made in injection moulding to test if it was a design flaw.

So, should you stop making these stuff? No, make them experiment with them, but while operating Get back to a safe distance, cover these things with something, let your camera record it, and then watch back later.

And never ever use it in real life, It can give up any time.Thats it in todays video. I just wanted to warn you guys about my experience, Happy 3D Printing. Stay Safe!

Do let me know what more you would like me to Make or Print.
