At the behest of my family who wanted to see this workshop, and with Steven willing to sacrifice his phone for the duration of this workshop, I bring you this workshop I presented at Hack Club’s Assemble hackathon, which was held earlier this month at Figma’s HQ in downtown SF.
There’s always been the stereotype of devs avoiding talking to people, which I have seen is definitely true to some extent. After seeing some confessions in the Hack Club community which struck a chord with me, I wanted to to present a workshop about the soft skills to the community: impostor syndrome, talking to people, and confidence — basically, all the random things and tricks about human interaction as an introverted hacker that I wish I knew, before having to learn them all the hard way.
For my first workshop, it went really well, but I think I still have got a lot to learn about public speaking, especially pacing, and running a workshop. It was a great feeling having attendees telling me they got something out of my workshop, so I sure hope this one won’t be my last!
If you want to check out the slide deck I used for this presentation, you can follow the link here, of course, using the amazing Hack Club cdn: https://cloud-5ltm0bb4k-hack-club-bot....
