Somalia, a country unproportionally affected by climate change, faces immense challenges in achieving food security and sustainable agriculture and Livestock. Recurrent droughts, floods, and conflicts have exacerbated the food insecurity and malnutrition, particularly among its most vulnerable communities. This event will examine the complex interplay between fragility and climate change in Somalia’s food systems and discuss innovative strategies to build resilience and promote sustainable food security.

Although Somalia contributes minimally to global climate changes, it ranks among the most climate-affected and vulnerable countries worldwide. The nation endures persistent droughts, frequent floods, and worsening water scarcity, all of which threaten agriculture, livestock, food security, and socio-economic stability. These escalating climate impacts highlight the urgent need for resilience-building and climate adaptation measuresThe panel discussion explores the intersection of climate resilience, youth health aspirations, and sustainable agriculture, to empower youth and marginalized groups involving smallholder farmers to intensify climate actions through sustainable farming for the Circular Economy, echoing FAO’s Four Betters, leaving no one behind.
