Bokeh comes from the Japanese word Boke, which means blur or haze. When said as Boke-aji, it means Blur Quality. So really, Bokeh is pronounced BOK-AY and it refers to the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens.
