High Desert Trout with Logan | Guideline Fly Fishing Tips&Tricks
Guide ambassador Logan Hurn has always been fascinated by migratory fish. He grew up in the steelhead paradise of Forks, WA, where he chases chrome over the winter. But during spring, summer, and fall, you can find him somewhere in the backcountry of Wyoming searching for trout that are measured in pounds, not inches.
Early last fall, we spent a couple of days with him picking apart this fishery, using everything from nymphing small BWOs to swinging streamers with two-handers. This is not your average trout fishery and Logan explains exactly what it takes to be successful when the water, the fish, and the bugs are simply larger.
This was a great location to test the new ULS 2.0s, one of Logan’s now preferred rods for this fishery as there is nothing like a tight-line grab.
