In this video, I compare Tidal to Spotify to determine which music app is truly the best. Watch this video and vote in the comments on which music you like. To follow my quest for the best music app of all time, please check out my channel!
Here are my findings from this analysis:
1. Features and Interface:
TIDAL:
* live concerts
* android TV compatible
* 1/4 million videos - including live concerts and music videos
* exclusive artist releases from mainstream artists like Jay-Z (owner), Kanye, and more
* music articles and interviews at read.tidal.com
* one account allows up to three devices to download songs for offline listening
*Two accounts may play online simultaneously
* Bad: no thumbs up or down in radios - aka you cannot optimize the radio stations :(
* Credits and song info easily accessible
* swipe left for queue and swipe right for similar songs - very nice feature!
SPOTIFY:
*more podcasts
* voice search
* car mode for added safety while driving
* behind the lyrics gives inside info on songs
* SOCIAL ASPECTS!!! Follow playlists
* heavy rotation
* follow artists
* fade between songs in gapless playback mode
* on-tour section
* collaborative playlists
* More on my other videos about Spotify
2. Music quality
* Tidal quality is 320 kbps with the $10/mo option
* Tidal Hi-Fi quality is up to 1411 kbps with $20/mo option
* Tidal Master Quality on desktop only is much much better
* Spotify is 196-320 kbps
3. New music
TIDAL:
* early releases
* swipe right for similar songs
* billboards everywhere
* Tidal-X
* Tidal Rise - new artists on the rise
* artist made playlists
* more mixtapes and exclusives
SPOTIFY:
* tastebreakers
* daily mix
* playlist, artist, and song radio
* release radar
* discover weekly
* "more of what you like"
* Mood music
Both are great apps but are useful for different people. Which do you like best? Let me know in the comments below?
