Being a Geek in 2024 Kinda Sucks.
For so many reasons, being a "geek" in 2024 kind of sucks. Yes, some legacy franchises like Star Wars are in tatters right now. But mostly, it's because of some parts of the fandom and the media using the things we've loved for much of our lives as a blunt instrument to "own" the other side. This feels like the aftermath of nerdom being made "cool" by Hollywood and now the NuFans are fighting for the scraps of whatever is left of fandom. Just a theory.
