Manatee County officials considering cutting services to Anna Maria Island ahead of Hurricane Helene
Hurricane Helene formed Wednesday and is expected to strengthen into a major hurricane as it continues its track toward Florida's Panhandle. Although it is too soon to specify exactly where the disturbance is heading, areas along the Florida Gulf Coast, including the Tampa Bay region, should prepare for potential impacts from storm surge, heavy rainfall and strong winds.
