Bikepacking in the highland plateau of Lesotho, Africa
What started out as a simple ride across the bridge, turned into a hike and bike over the mountain into a valley full of tiny villages scattered across the hills.
The gravel riding was incredible. Lots of dirt paths, tons of technical sections, and steepness that made me wish I had a dropper post. It was nice to see how people live when there’s no electricity or asphalt.
I had a great hang out with a small private school. The woman who started the school only has the one building so she runs to schools every day. In total she educates 80 kids per day. She’s hoping to save up enough money to pay for the 1500 USD required to build a second building. The foundation is already dug and the motivation is there. She just needs the money.
I guess I didn’t click my phone into the quad lock properly and it fell off. After a long hike back up the mountain I was lucky enough to find it.
I also wiped out and bent my derailer hanger but was able to straighten it by hand. Phef.
All this before noon.
If anyone wants to pay for the new school building, I’ll be happy to bike up there again and give them the cash :)
