Russia ‘using unjammable fibre optic UAVs against Ukraine’
Russia claims to be using fibre-optic drones against Ukraine. Video uploaded by a war blogger seems to show them in action. It shows drones hitting Ukrainian targets in the Kursk region. Ukraine typically uses jammers to protect its equipment. But controlling drones via long, thin cables means this doesn’t work. At one point you can see the cable trailing behind the drone. If this technology proves viable it could cause big problems. Jamming is one of the few effective defences against drones.
