Mixing Bass in Mono Below 120Hz Trick | Mixing Tips
Hi all,
The reason we are making the bass in mono is to confirm that the stuff below 120Hz are in mono, in case there are some slight stereo changes in that area, that might add some phasing issues. By putting the bass in mono below 120Hz we are making sure that the subby parts from the bass and the subby frequencies from the kick are in the center, where they should be.
Any frequencies above this threshold of 120Hz can have a stereo element in them if there is any. For example the bass harmonics often times are spread into the stereo field for rounder bass. Try this one out, there is no harm to do it on such tracks like the bass or the kick.
