Penzance May Horns 2018
Penzance is the setting for an annual revival of an ancient Cornish custom which vanished during the early years of the twentieth century: the Blowing of May Horns. Tin trumpets were the chosen instruments of the day, and the horn blowing was accompanied by whistles and processions to welcome in the May. Nowadays the customs takes place on the first Sunday evening of the new month of May and all are welcome to attend, especially if you bring a whistle, horn or drum.
