In the summer of 2011, I taught my program "You are the Artist of Your Life: Exploring Life Direction Through Photography - Teens" at Kennedy Place, Houston, Texas.
Teens learned how to access their inspiration and creativity, what resonance is and how to notice what you're drawn to, self-expression through the camera, and techniques of interviewing and photographing people they admired. While experiencing the joy of expressing their view of the world through images, they also reflected on visions and dreams for their own lives, and learned how to apply the art of photography to the art of creating their lives.
This video is a sample of the photos taken by the participants, who were 11 - 17 years old.
"You are the Artist of Your Life: Exploring Life Direction Through Photography" was sponsored by Houston Housing Resources, Inc. through a grant from the Simmons Foundation, and contributions by Taos Mountain Radiology - Paul Johnson, M.D. and Christina M. Gucwa, Attorney at Law.
Many thanks for the opportunity to inspire and support these creative, passionate teens!
