The thought of losing SMT doesn't sound good, considering the processor is priced higher than the Ryzen 5 2600 that has SMT and true enough that the 2600 does outperform the Ryzen 5 3500X in software that utilizes cores and threads.
So does the Ryzen 5 3500X have a place in the market of Ryzen processors? It's a resounding yes!
It's not a stellar performer but it can deliver very well given the price point, and delivers even more if you put effort to overclock it.
