Sawyer Brown is an American country music group formed in 1981 in Apopka, Florida. The band initially consisted of Mark Miller as the lead vocalist and guitarist, Gregg "Hobie" Hubbard on keyboards and vocals, Bobby Randall on lead guitar and vocals, Joe "Curly" Smyth on drums, and Jim Scholten on bass guitar. These musicians had previously played together in country singer Don King's band before deciding to continue as a group when King retired. Following their victory on the TV show Star Search, they signed with Capitol Records in 1984 and recorded with them until 1991. They then moved to Curb Records until 2005, with a brief stint at Lyric Street Records in 2003. Duncan Cameron joined the band in 1991, replacing Randall, and Shayne Hill joined in 2004.
