As the King's Guards, you can only imagine the extent of training each guard would have to go through. Some might even call it brutal, the intensity of it all. But this level of rigorous training is justified because of how important their job is. Well, keeping the King is pretty important, simply put.

To understand just how intense the training regime is, let's take a look at it.

First off, The King’s Guards are actually part of the British Army, not the Palace staff. To join, they must pass the BARB test with at least 26 points. These guards are usually infantry or cavalry soldiers from esteemed regiments. Their training is tough, focusing on self-discipline, teamwork, and fitness. Interestingly, they've all faced combat.

One has to be only around 16 years old to join the army. That's a young age, yes. But wouldn’t you want to start training for something enormously important as young as you can?

The Kings Guards are trained at the Army's Infantry Training Centre in New Yorkshire. Their training regime includes physical fitness, drills, ceremonial training, and also learning how to use weapons. They're also taught the history and traditions of the Guard and their role in the protection of the Royal family.
