My broken rear diff tried to break me — Chevy Silverado restoration Part 5
Previously on Project Old Grey, we replaced some rusty, broken, rear suspension shackles on my 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3 V8. That took MONTHS. So I was thrilled when I finally had the truck back on the road. I even took it in for an inspection to see if there was anything major I was missing.
Overall, the inspection came back great. But they did point out one thing that concerned them.
That was a leaking rear differential cover. I had seen it, though I just kind of brushed it off as “an old truck thing.” But they suggested I replace the cover because of that leak. Simple enough.
But of course, nothing can be simple on this channel...
