In this tutorial you’ll learn how to easily add a drop shadow to a layer in After Effects.
Here’s a quick recap:
Find the layer in the timeline that you want to add the drop shadow to. Right-click it in the timeline. In the menu that pops up, go to Layer Styles and then choose Drop Shadow. Boom. Your drop shadow is now applied.
Twirl open the layer’s properties in the timeline. Then twirl open Layer Styles and Drop Shadow. Here you can edit the drop shadow’s properties like color, size, etc. and even keyframe it so the drop shadow will change over time.
You can copy/paste the drop shadow from one layer to another. In the timeline, select the Drop Shadow property. Use the keyboard shortcut Cmd/Ctrl+C to copy it. Then select the layer you want to add the drop shadow to. Use the keyboard shortcut Cmd/Ctrl+V to paste the drop shadow.
