In addition to the jobs listed above, I've also worked as a theatrical special effects designer and operator. Some of the lessons there carry over to designing Roguelikes. My game series GearHead is known for its procedural narration; I use techniques from stage magic and fortune telling to make the player believe the story. As a gamedev you are also a performer. This talk will focus on tricks game devs can learn from magic to draw the player into your game. Not literally; that'd be witchcraft instead.
