What's up friends! Happy MAR/10!! In celebration, I figured we'd take a trip down through the halls of time to pluck something ancient out the vault... here goes nothing!
This is one of the earliest ROM hack recordings I have that is still able to be uploaded. It's a doozy folks -- we're talking some vintage 2016 Squiggs with this one! Our fresh-faced young hero has only been YouTubing for less than half a year at this point, and BOY does it show in the commentary, hahah. Also in the entire lack of cuts throughout the video. We're going long form tonight!
It's so weird for me to hear my old self like this, because it's the same me, but he's just not used to being a YouTuber yet. It sounds completely different to me -- from the quality of the voice recording itself to the stumbly mumbly nature of the commentary. But, at the same time, this was kind of cool to go back and edit so long after the fact. Just a fun little memory to how YouTubing used to feel for me.
Anyways, I should probably get onto this hack for at least part of the description. Well... what is there to say really? I think I summed it up better than I can resum it when I said "This is the most effort I've put into playing anyone's hack", or something like that. It's just a complete mess. I have no idea where I found this one or why. It wasn't sent to me -- if it was it would have been uploaded already, so that means this is one I did in the off-season when waiting for more submissions. But I can't see this being uploaded on SMWCentral, so where the hell did it come from? Actually, I just threw "Super Dinner World SMW" into Google, and even they don't know where it came from. Spooky!
So yeah, this hack creator clearly didn't know what they were doing, or maybe didn't care, but at the same time they tried to craft a fun experience out of the limited tools they had. It's kind of like someone trying to make an ornate sculpture but only being given a sledgehammer. They shaped the world around them, but maybe the original block of granite was nicer than the end product in some ways, hahah. That's a little harsh, and not a great metaphor, but I'm feeling metaphorical and cruel so you get what you get. Just kidding, I don't usually feel cruel. After that joke, I like to say that I'm just joking. Miss you Mitch.

PS - I totally meant to leave that sync in the beginning... it's for uhh, nostalgia or something. Yeah, it's a callback. One of those classic scripted callbacks to the old episodes where I literally didn't know how to edit out the sync mark. I'm not underslept and barely competent, messing up the most basic of editing requirements... that's quite the ridiculous notion you came up with. You forget yourself friend, watch your tone!
