Jane Wicker was an American aerobatic pilot and wing walker who tragically died in a plane crash on June 22, 2013, during an airshow at the Dayton International Airport in Ohio. She was performing a wing-walking stunt on the top wing of a 1940 Stearman biplane when the plane suddenly crashed and burst into flames.
Unfortunately, both Jane Wicker and the pilot, Charlie Schwenker, lost their lives in the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board investigated the accident and determined that it was likely caused by a loss of control of the aircraft due to pilot error. The NTSB report cited Schwenker's failure to maintain adequate airspeed and altitude as contributing factors to the accident.
Jane Wicker was a popular performer and had been wing-walking for many years. Her death was a great loss to the aviation community and her fans.
