This 18-year-old blind and deaf dog is walking every bridge in the Twin Cities
Nanna the dog is 18 years old, blind, and deaf. But none of this stops her from walking 5 - 7 miles on her weekly adventures with her human, Abe Switters.
Switters met Nanna three years ago at the Nashville Humane Society when he was working there. She was already blind and deaf and it didn’t seem like she had much time left. She went on hospice so Switters took her into his home as a foster so she could be comfortable in her final days. Instead, Nanna got better almost immediately. They started with a walk around the block, then a mile, a 5K, and a few months ago she did a 10K.
Since moving from Nashville to St. Paul, Switters and Nanna have started a new adventure - walking every bridge in the Twin Cities. So far, he’s taken her on eight bridges and has been posting their trips to social media so people can follow along. #shelterdog #seniordog #reverbmpr
