For the first time, "Star Wars: A New Hope (Episode IV)" has been dubbed in Ojibwe. The newly dubbed film is a collaboration between LucasFilm, the University of Manitoba and the Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council in Manitoba. It first premiered in Canada last month and it’s screening in nine theaters in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.

The film’s voicing has Minnesota ties. Ajuawak Kapashesit, who voiced Han Solo, is from Minnesota. Dustin Morrow, who voiced Obi-Wan Kenobi, is a University of Minnesota linguistics doctoral student. Anton Treuer, an author and professor of Ojibwe language at Bemidji State University, voiced lines for some stormtroopers and a loudspeaker announcement in the film.
