Ana Mercedes Hoyos celebrated by Google Doodle. Ana Mercedes Hoyos was born on September 29, 1942 in Bogotá, Colombia, the daughter of Ester Mejía Gutiérrez and Manuel José Hoyos Toro. Her father is an architectural engineer.

He encourages his daughter to study art history. During her primary and secondary education at Colegio Marymount in Bogotá, she learned painting with Luciano Jaramillo.

She travels to Europe, Mexico and the United States to discover art in other cultures. She studied visual arts at the University of the Andes with Luciano Jaramillo, as well as Juan Antonio Roda, Marta Traba and Armando Villegas, although she did not complete her studies.

In 1967, she married Jacques Mosseri Hané, an architect. They spend a month in New York, exploring Pop Art exhibitions, before returning home to Bogotá. Their daughter Ana was born in 19691.

From 1961 to 1965, Ana Mercedes Hoyos taught at the University of the Andes. From 1966, she exhibited regularly. She won second prize at the Biennial of Young Painting at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Bogota.
