Original Elektra Records #45621

Debut 9/23/1967
Peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart

Notice that the writer's credit simply lists "The Doors", and not any individual name(s).
The song was actually written by Jim Morrison and Robby Krieger.

The first record I show has the address of Elektra Records on the bottom as 1855 Broadway, NY, NY. This record is pure vinyl.
The second record I show and play has the Elektra address as 51 West 52 Street, New York City and is made of polystyrene. The record in the green sleeve is a re-issue promotional copy issued in 1980.

The holes in the original Elektra records indicate that they were "cutouts", which was a term applied to unsold records returned by retail stores to the records distribution companies who drilled the holes in the records, and then sent them back to the stores to be sold at a discount. The holes prevented record stores from trying to return the same record a second time for credit. Hence the term "cutout".

This is the original mono mix as heard when this was a huge hit on AM Top 40 radio on stations like WABC New York.
