Auto-Monitoring Feature in Avid Media Composer | Tutorial
This tutorial teaches you what auto-monitoring is and if you want to use it in Avid Media Composer.
Here’s a quick recap:
Monitoring in Avid Media Composer means what track(s) you are currently viewing. If the Monitor is set to V3, everything V3 and lower you are viewing. If there is something on V4, you won’t see it.
Auto-Monitoring is Avid Media Composer’s feature that automatically changes the track that is being monitored. This happens when you deselect/select tracks and patch something from the Source side to another track.
I do not like this feature and you can turn it off.
Right-click an empty area in the Timeline and go to Timeline Settings. Go to the Edit tab. Then uncheck the Auto-Monitoring box. Lastly click OK in the Timeline Settings box. Now Auto-Monitoring is turned off in Avid Media Composer.
