Panasonic GH5 vs Canon 5D IV | Video Test
After using the GH5 extensively for work, I began wondering how it compared to the Canon 5D Mark IV, in terms of 4K video capability.
Like some of my other camera comparison videos, I attempted to use the same exact filming environment, in order to have an equal comparison.
The Panasonic GH5 was equipped with the Leica DG Vario-Elmarit f/2.8 - 4.0 12-60mm lens.
The Canon 5D Mark IV was equipped with a Sigma DC 17-50mm f/2.8 EX HSM lens, which is geared more towards APS-C bodies.
While the GH5 records in both, MOV and MP4 formats, I chose the MOV 10-bit format at 400mb/s. The Canon 5D IV records 4K in a slightly different format, known as Motion-JPEG. This runs at approx 500Mb/s.
I also forgot to mention in the video that the 5D IV records in 4K UHD, which required me to crop out the vertical sides to bring it back to 16:9 at 3840x2160.
