When should you do a bone broth fast? Bone broth is an excellent tool for repairing a damaged gut, but isn't going to do the same things that true fasting does. Fasting (no food for 16+ hours) turns on autophagy, and stem cells. It activates the liver to burn more stored fat.
Drinking only bone broth for a few days can give you a little of those benefits, but is really going to do things like repair large intestine microbiome issues such as leaky gut or candida.
So it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish!
NOTE: I want to make a correction in regards to ketosis. In the video I misspoke, and said that ketones won't be released during a bone broth fast. Whoops! That's not true. Since the body isn't processing sugar or carbs, insulin goes down, and the liver can start to enter ketosis. However, it's different for everybody. Some people do not go into ketosis on a bone broth fast. It's all about how metabolically flexible you are. This is why testing your own blood sugar and ketones is so important!
