The Lin76 is an affordable 1176 style compressor.
I will have a full review coming soon, but there have been some comments about it being noisy. I have two in my rack and ran a few tests.
Both Lin76 compressors were connected to my Presonus Quantum 2632 using a dummy resistor load as input to ensure external noise did not impact the tests. Noise levels represent a combination of the Lin76 and Quantum 2632 noise. Levels were standardized so as to achieve a -12dB when replacing the dummy load resistor with a pink noise generator.
With more the 100dB of separation between the noise floor and signal, I'll let you decide if the Lin76 is noisy.
I ran the same test with the compressor only from the Universal Audio 6176 for comparison...
