Me, Myself, and Privacy Complaints: I’d Like to Report the Creator Appeared in Their Own Videos

In the 17 years to date that I’ve been uploading videos to YouTube, this is the first time I’ve received an email from YouTube about two privacy complaints made against two of my videos. The videos are:
Playing Mortal Kombat Armageddon for the PS2
   • Playing Mortal Kombat Armageddon for ...

My Life in Video Games: The Nintendo GameCube
   • My Life in Video Games: The Nintendo ...

Both videos feature me either talking over game footage or talking in front of a camera, so there should be no reason to report them.

The email gives no information about what exactly I supposedly had done wrong, only to edit the video and in 48 hours someone at YouTube can review if it’s still offensive. Not surprisingly, over a week later no action has been taken and both of my videos are still live but I wanted to draw people’s attention to these increasingly common complaints. Of course, there are genuine reasons to put in a privacy complaint but it’s clear the process could be handled better.

You can read more about the privacy complaint process at:

https://support.google.com/youtube/an...

Before putting in a complaint the offending YouTuber should be contacted first, but the first I heard about the supposed privacy violations was from YouTube directly. Additionally, it should be mentioned, if someone does submit a privacy complaint and they make a false complaint they risk losing their YouTube account.

If you have had any experience with privacy complaints or have any questions then please leave them in the comments.
