Syria’s Heyetu Tahrir al-Sham, or HTS militant group and Turkey-backed opposition groups in the country have advanced in Aleppo city, Turkish media reported on Wednesday. In the first hours of the operation, the opposition groups took control of 12 villages and reached a depth of 5 kilometers into Aleppo. Two Syrian army tanks have been hit in the attack. In addition, a car bomb attack has been carried out against the 46th Regiment of the Syrian government in the region. The opposition groups have also captured a military zone and seized a large amount of ammunition in this area. The attack on Aleppo follows the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon on Tuesday. Heyetu Tahrir al-Sham group announced that an operation was launched from the western rural area of Aleppo. The operation also received support from Turkey-backed opposition groups. The Syrian National Army has declared a "red alert", while Russian warplanes are bombing the region to stop the opposition’s advance. Experts believe that the operation is limited and a general war will not start.
