The inspiration of the piece came to John Lennon recalling a positive experience of alteration of his own consciousness induced by hallucinogenic substances, and in fact Rain suggests the idea of overcoming the material circumstances that surround us to reach a transcendental state of consciousness. the number of Paul McCartney, who had put aside the trusted Höfner bass to inaugurate the new Rickenbacker 4001 bass, and that of Ringo Starr on drums, a proof that Starr considers his best ever.
