This is an exciting adventure story in which Jim Powell learns that his father has been secretly searching for a mysterious artifact that has caused alarm among the local residents. Intrigued by a found booklet with a drawing of an arrowhead drawn in orange pencil, Jim begins to ask questions about this artifact, only to encounter strange behavior from people who try to avoid it. Realizing that the answer lies in the path marked on his father's map, Jim sets off on an adventure. On the way, he meets Gola, a half-Indian woman, a very capable and experienced woman, with whom at first there is a conflict, but later they show a common interest in the search for the artifact.
