The TRUTH About Ryzen 7000 X3D EXPOSED
Are you in the market for a new CPU for your gaming PC? The AMD Ryzen 7000 X3D "3D V-Cache" CPUs are set to launch next month and are expected to be the fastest gaming processors on the market. But, there has been a debate on whether these CPUs will feature overclocking support or not.
AMD has now confirmed that the Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs do have an unlocked design, which means that users will be able to adjust the BCLK as they wish. However, the company is recommending users to go with the auto-tuning options such as the Curve Optimizer with PBO for the best balance of overall CPU performance.
While the Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs do have an unlocked design, hard frequency overclocking is locked, just like the previous generation Zen 3D V-Cache chips. The voltages have become more aggressive this time around, with a limit of 1.4V compared to the 1.1V limit on the Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU. The stacked L3 cache on the chip is sensitive to high temperatures and additional voltage, making it possible for the chips to break if these are tweaked.
Despite the limitations on overclocking, the AMD Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs still offer a lot of voltage to work with and we can expect some decent overclocks. However, it's important to keep in mind that the stacked L3 cache is sensitive to high temperatures and additional voltage, so users should exercise caution when overclocking.
The AMD Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs are set to launch next month and will be the fastest gaming processors on the market. While overclocking support is a plus, these CPUs still have a huge market for success even without OC, as long as they offer the right kind of performance and value.
