Tracking the Tropics: Hurricane Idalia just shy of major hurricane strength (10 p.m. Tuesday)
Hurricane Idalia is nearing Category 3 major hurricane strength as it continues its trek northward across the Gulf of Mexico.
Outer rainbands are pushing their way into southwest Florida and the Tampa Bay region. Life-threatening storm surge, hurricane-force wind and isolated tornadoes are increasingly likely for portions of the Florida Gulf Coast.
