Bulgaria, the euro is coming in 2024!
The government of Bulgaria is planning to adopt the euro in January 2024. The adoption of the euro will require Bulgaria to meet the criteria set out by the European Union for euro adoption. These criteria are known as the 'convergence criteria' and include requirements for inflation, government debt, exchange rate, and interest rate stability. Bulgaria must also demonstrate it has the institutional capacity to handle the adoption of the single currency. Once the criteria have been met, Bulgaria will be able to adopt the euro and participate in the Eurozone.
