Visual Identification of Tomato Spotted Wilt on Peanut, by Sidney Webb
This video introduces Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV) and the resulting symptoms of Tomato Spotted Wilt disease on peanut plants. Each symptom is described with sample images to provide the viewer with a quality visual from plants in the field. Peanut breeders and farmers alike may benefit from this video as TSWV can be detrimental to a peanut crop and is therefore essential to be able to identify in the field. Farmer’s need for resistant cultivars is a driver for including selection for TSWV resistance in a breeding program. This basic knowledge on how to visually identify a TSWV infection can benefit a breeder’s progression of quality cultivars and help farmers prevent yield loss from disease.
