In the line of duty is a seven-part series that shows what it is like to be a cop here in Chicago, for nearly a decade I have been roaming the streets covering the extreme violence, watching cops, and documenting policies that have created a crisis for cops and the public here in Chicago. The police department and the city of Chicago has been governed, by one party, the democrat party, they have been the overseers of a 50-year crime wave in this city seeing over 35,000 people murdered and hundreds of thousands of others shot. Over the decades these policies and bureaucratic creations have slowly eroded the effectiveness of the department. And the Bad cops that have disgraced the badge are partially responsible for the loss of public trust in the department.
Cops are now being taken for granted and sabotaged by the justice system, the media, the politicians’ activist groups and in some cases their own leadership. The 100-year politicalization of the department has made the jobs of cops today nearly impossible. And the violent culture cops face from hardcore criminals, gang members, fatherless kids and the unhinged public have left them restricted by policy, leaving them in a defensive position.
The change in the new activist justice system have left cops, defeated, and the worst is yet to come in October of 2023 the no cash bail legislation takes effect, this policy and other unreasonable polices being imposed has cops fleeing from the department by the thousands and the bleak future of policing in Chicago will be laid out by me for all to see.
