Learn how to make a Stinger worthy of being called a James Bond cocktail using Cognac and homemade Crème de Menthe. The series, Cocktails and Pussy Galore, shows you how to drink like 007 using the Ian Fleming books (not the movies) as the source, which takes you beyond the typical James Bond Martini.

James Bond had several Stingers throughout the books. He drank them with Tiffany Case in Diamonds Are Forever and with Felix Leiter in Thunderball. He often drank them paired with coffee. It compliments coffee extremely well, particularly after a meal.

It is definitely a sweet drink, but very well balanced. I like it made with Remy Martin VSOP Cognac. The flavor of the Brandy will stand out in the drink so you'll want it to be a good one. If you make your own Crème de Menthe (   • How to Make Crème de Menthe - an Eas...  ), the 1:1 ratio will be perfect. If you use a store bought bottle of Crème de Menthe, you'll want to do something like a 2:1 or 3:1 Brandy to Crème de Menthe. It'll be a matter of taste, but the commercially bottled Crème de Menthe will most likely be a lot sweeter than the one you make yourself. If that's the way you like it, don't let me stop you. Cheers!

Recipe:
1.5 oz Brandy
1.5 oz Crème de Menthe
Shake with ice. Double strain into chilled glass.
