Megalosaurus: The ENORMOUS 'Great' Lizard | Dinosaur Documentary
Megalosaurus has found itself posthumously thrust into the forefront of the public's perception of dinosaurs from a scientific standpoint. It might not be as large and powerful as Tyrannosaurus; nor have the movie accreditations of Velociraptor, but Megalosaurus' claim to fame is perhaps the most important of all: it was the first dinosaur ever to be discovered by man. It was for this reason that the sculptures at Crystal Palace Park were commissioned, and still stand to this day.
Megalosaurus, then, will be the topic of today's video. We will first be examining how this dinosaur was officially brought to the attention of the public; how and where it lived in the depths of prehistory; and what the world around it looked like at the time it was alive.
Join us as we take a trip back in time to explore one of the most significant discoveries in all of science. It will be something of a two fold trip through time today, as we explore not only the world that the dinosaur lived in, but also the time of the scientists who brought this animal back to life in the first instance.
