Scaling software development is arguably one of the significant unsolved challenges in our industry in the 21st century, encompassing both organizational and technical realms. Beyond being a socio-technical challenge, it represents a significant opportunity for achieving efficiency, speed — and ultimately success of whole companies. This talk utilizes real-world examples to highlight the necessity of resilience, autonomy, and elasticity, including their tradeoffs. We emphasize the importance of embracing chaos and iterative approaches, as well as why event-driven, reactive concepts, and superb developer experience play a pivotal role in addressing these challenges.
