In 2010, Jagex increased the price of Climbing Boots by just over 35,000% - causing the second largest price spike in RuneScape history.

But in the hours after the update, news started to spread that a controversial merchanting clan had received news of the update the days prior - and profited heavily.

Did Jagex really leak the price spike ahead of time?
