Here's a simple way to add collision-enabled land in your 2D game without using a tilemap!
The primary advantage of this approach is that you do not need to build an entire tileset for your land and platforms. Instead, you can make a single texture that tiles, and the polygon2d will tile it for you. If you want, you can also create a secondary outline texture, like this grass, that you can overlay on top.
Another advantage of this approach is that you can build slopes pretty flexibly. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a way to make smooth slopes, but you can add more points to make it smoother as a workaround. When creating the art for a tilemap, it's pretty painful to make a variety of slope tiles.
The last main advantage of this approach is that you can create large chunks of land quickly. It's also very flexible to drag out points to build landmasses too.
However, this approach may not be for you if you don't plan on building terrain with lots of slope configurations, or if you already have a tilemap that you want to use. Also, tilesets tend to also have other decorative sprites in them, like flowers, that you would have to make separately if you were to use my approach.

Implemented in Godot version 4.0.2.stable
