If you've been following me for a while then I'm sure you know that I love to make beats by playing in my notes in using physical hardware. I don't often click things in but I am using that technique more and I have to admit that sometimes working purely inside of a DAW is much faster, especially considering the power and capabilities of most DAWS out right now. Not only that but if you are someone who maybe doesn't know theory as well, leveraging the power of your DAW can really help you get where you want to be.
One of the things that make DAWs so powerful are these things called Macros. A macro is basically a function that triggers a set of other functions. Macros are present in almost every DAW and they help us achieve certain things that would otherwise take more time to do; you can think of them as shortcuts.
So then today I'm going to walk you through my personal macro set up in Studio One that is designed for fast beat making. Enjoy!
